Why I Left Architecture to Pursue Design-Driven Vastu

When My Own Home Failed Me
I had designed beautiful projects before.
A 6,000 sq. ft. rammed-earth residence in Coimbatore.
A 150,000 sq. ft. PEB commercial building in Hyderabad.
Both were celebrated for their design and efficiency.
But strangely, it wasn’t these projects that made me question architecture.
It was my own home in Surat.
When I moved here, I expected to finally enjoy a space crafted for comfort.
Instead, I felt the opposite like the energy of the house was weighing me down.
Something invisible wasn’t working.
The Subtle Shifts That Opened My Eyes
Skeptical but curious, we tried making small changes adjusting layouts, moving certain elements, rethinking placements.
And we felt the difference.
Not just me my extended family and friends too. They’d make small, logical Vastu-based tweaks, and suddenly their homes felt lighter, calmer, more supportive.
I couldn’t deny it anymore.
For years, I had dismissed Vastu as rigid or outdated. But here it was playing out in front of me, in my own life.
The Discomfort with “Design-Only”
At the same time, I was surrounded by Surat’s design scene lavish, interior-heavy homes that dazzled on the outside but felt hollow inside.
Everywhere, interiors were about aesthetics and volume, not about how people actually lived in the space.
And quietly, I began questioning everything:
👉 Was my entire design education just about surfaces and styles?
👉 Was I truly contributing to people’s well-being?
The more I thought about it, the more restless I felt.
The Bridge No One Was Building
Meanwhile, my architecture and interior colleagues had their own complaints.
They were constantly frustrated by traditional pandit-led Vastu consultations
Inefficient instructions.
Superstitious demands.
Endless delays in design delivery.
And I thought: maybe my role lies here.
👉 Not as just another architect.
👉 Not as a pandit consultant.
👉 But as a bridge someone who understands design and honors Vastu, without the fear and inefficiency.
From Architect to Architect-Turned-Vastu-Consultant
That’s how I shifted.
I didn’t leave architecture behind.
I carried it with me its logic, its creativity, its responsibility—and added another layer: energy-driven Vastu.
My practice today is what I call Design-Driven Vastu:
Architecture-led logic.
Styling-based fixes.
Non-demolition solutions.
Because I know what it feels like when a home looks perfect but feels wrong.
And I know how life-changing even the simplest corrections can be.
Who I Work With
Young professionals in metros who want apartments that support growth, focus, and rest.
Wealthy families in villas who want homes that truly nurture them.
Architects and designers who need Vastu logic that doesn’t compromise design or create inefficiency.

Final Word
My turning point wasn’t in the projects I built for others.
It was in my own home where I finally understood what clients had been telling me all along.
Architecture gives us beauty. Vastu gives us balance. Together, they give us spaces that truly support life.
And that’s why I chose this path.
